![]() Craig was working in Banbury when one day he finally decided that he had had enough and he needed a change. Although his job paid reasonably well it had pretty much the same old routine every day and he was bored. He knew he wanted to do something else he but wasn't sure what. At 24 with his whole life in front of him he wanted something that would allow him to use both his creative and practical skills. He looked around for something that would fit the bill and eventually realised it had been closer to home than he had thought. Craig had a CORGI registered plumber in the family who was 'doing very nicely' and after some discussion with him, Craig knew that this was what he wanted; a perfect combination of practical work and creativity and an income that he could really get excited about! Craig did a lot of reading searching for was needed to make a start in his newly chosen career. There was lots to read because there were plenty of companies advertising different courses. He realised very quickly that if he were to make a career of it then he had to get the right qualifications. He decided that he needed a training programme that would allow him to get his CORGI registration as well as his plumbing qualifications and this excluded almost every company he'd looked at. Craig said, ‘I eventually chose Trade Qualified because their course gave me absolutely everything I needed; recognised plumbing qualifications as well as Part P so I could install power showers etc and if I wanted, I could do CORGI too. I was nervous about taking such a big step but I enrolled anyway - it proved to be one of the best decisions I had ever made. I stayed in my job and worked through the course at the same time. It was brilliant! I got a great set of tools included in the course fee and easy to use course work that was so simple to understand that I just breezed through it. Great theory, great practical, great tutors and a great result; I got all my qualifications!' ‘Whilst still on the course I applied to a number of companies for work and soon found one quite close to home who took me on. They're fantastic to work with because we're doing everything I had hoped for before I took the decision to enrol that truly changed my life.' ‘I'm excited by what the future has in store' says Craig, ‘I'm really enjoying myself and I have a plan'. Craig has some family out in Oz and he's planning to move out there with his girlfriend as soon as he can. Her skills are in demand there too and he knows they will have no problem getting work visas. ‘England is great' says Craig but added thoughtfully ‘blue skies, sunshine, golden beaches, surfing, guaranteed work and family already out there - c'mon what would you choose?' MMMmmmmm good question! |
