Electrician Courses and Electrical Training PEC2

This is a superb professional Electrician Training Course which is perfect for people
who want to become professional Electricians. You do not  need any prior qualifications to enrol and the PEC2 Electrician Training Course may be undertaken on either a full or part time basis, so you can remain in full time employment while you train as an electrician.

The PEC2 Electrical Installation Engineer course includes ALL the following electrical qualifications to ensure you are more than legally qualified for your new career as a professional Electrician.

  • Inspection Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations - City & Guilds 2391
  • The 17th Edition of the Institute of Electrical Engineers Wiring Regulations - City & Guilds 2382
  • Electrical Portable Appliance Testing - City & Guilds 2377
  • Domestic Installer Certificate - Full Scope (for Part P certification) - Bpec Certification
  • Essential Electrics - CITB
  • Appointed Persons First Aid - Health and Safety Executive
  • CSCS Site Safety Card
Many Electrician Course Training Providers do not offer the C&G 2391 electrician qualification because it is a difficult and expensive electrical qualification to deliver. We include it in our electrical training course because not only does it increase your status as a professional electrician it also enables additional work opportunities.

What Can I Do When I have Completed This Electrician Training Course?

The course enables you to gain the industry standard qualifications that will make you attractive to employers or enable you to run your own business and will legally qualify you to undertake a wide range of electrical works including the following:-

  • In the Commercial and Industrial sectors you will be fully qualified to undertake Inspection, Testing and Certification work on high voltage installations up to 1,000v. as well as on 3-Phase Installations.
  • In the Corporate Sector, you will be fully qualified to undertake Portable Appliance Testing work i.e. generally speaking anything with a plug! You can either do this type of work exclusively or simply as a complement to your other work.
  • In the Domestic and New Build Sectors you will be fully qualified to completely gut a house of all its wiring including the Consumer Unit. You can then re-wire the house from scratch and replace the Consumer Unit if necessary.
  • There is no difference between wiring houses from scratch and wiring houses on a new build development so you you will not be surprised to learn that you will be fully qualified to do this too!
  • Any other wiring in a domestic dwelling will also be within the legal scope of your qualifications.
  • Under Part P of the building regulations someone has to certify 'notifiable' work to be compliant with the current regulations. You will be qualified to certify your own work and work that you had personally supervised and issue the required compliance certificates. If you wish to work self employed and carry out notifiable work, you will first need to register with one of the Part P registration providers such as the NICEIC.
  • IMPORTANT: Because you will be a holder of the C&G 2391 together with the other qualifications on the PEC2 course, you will also be legally qualified to certify not just your own work but also other peoples work that you had neither undertaken nor supervised. This ability is VERY important because it will enable you to employ people who are not Part P registered, to work for you unsupervised. You can later inspect and certify their work as if you had completed it yourself.
  • Furthermore, legislation changes to the existing HIPS (Home Information Pack Scheme) are widely anticipated that will require all in-scope house wiring to be certificated - not just wiring completed after Jan 1st 2005. For holders of the C&G 2391, this change will open up a vast Inspection and Testing opportunity in the Home Sales market and in many cases existing wiring may not be certified without your own additional remedial work.

Electrical Course PEC2 - Electrical Training Course Features

This electrical training course is not simply about gaining qualifications. We really want you to understand what you are doing and why you are doing it. There is little point e.g. in only being able to rectify faults or connect up the ring main on our workshop test beds.

You need to have a good understanding of the principles behind the electrical course work you undertake in our workshops. That is why we include well over 300 hours of electrical course home study with tutor assisted technical support that may be undertaken at your own pace.

That is also why before you to attend each of your electrical training workshop sessions your tutor will have been satisfied that you have completed the home study Stage Assessments that prepare you for your next week in Centre. The objective of the PEC2 electrical training course is that not only will you gain your formal qualifications but you will also gain a solid grounding in the theoretical principles of an Electrician’s role. You will be grateful for this knowledge throughout your entire career.

Electrical Course - Practical work in Centre

The electrician training home study programme is complemented by four five day (Mon-Fri) weeks of practical electrical work in Centre plus an additional day to prepare for and sit the theory examination for the C&G 2391. Each available week in Centre may be selected around the student's commitments and may be booked following successful completion of the Stage Assessment papers (SA) within the home study module that prepares the student for the relevant week.

The SA's are used by tutors to evaluate student progress and their readiness for their next practical week in Centre.

Following completion of their final practical week, students will be deemed to have completed the Electrical Installation Engineer course. However they will still need to complete further SA's in preparation for their return to the workshop for a final day to prepare for and sit that evening, the theory examination that completes their C&G 2391 qualification.

The C&G 2391 theory examination is scheduled by the City & Guilds on six different (Thursday) date options throughout the year from 6.30pm to 9.00pm. Students may select the date that suits them. It is recommended that they do not sit the examination for a minimum of six months from commencement of employment.

It is in the student's interest that their tutor will decide if they are ready for examination either earlier or later. The scheduled date options will be advised at the time the final day is booked.
