Matthew worked in Leeds in a job which required him to spend most of his time in front of a computer screen trying to make things go wrong! He tested new software to make sure that it was fault free and ready for commercial use. In his own words he was ‘pretty bored with it'. He was 29 and was not looking forward to even another year of this let alone a lifetime. He made up his mind to become an Electrician.

He was lucky enough to have a plumber in the family - his older brother. His brother gave him an insight into what life was like working as a professional tradesman. Can you get a better endorsement than one from your big brother? Matthew didn't think so and set about looking for an electrician course that would give him the right qualifications for his new career.

He soon knew exactly what he wanted after researching the many options on the internet. Then he spotted an advertisement from Trade Qualified in his local paper. He gave them a call and one of their electrician training Career Advisors visited him at home and told him everything he wanted to know.

‘I was very impressed with their electrician training course' said Matthew. ‘I could keep my job and income and work through the electrician course at my own pace and get exactly what I needed. I would legally be able to completely wire up houses on building sites or rip everything out of an existing house and start again. My qualifications would enable me to do lots of other things too that gave me more opportunities than I had originally considered. I decided there and then to go for it'

Matthew enrolled on the electrician training course and confessed to being quite excited at the prospect of his new career. Said Matthew, ‘I was used to organisation and structure in my current job; you had to have both or you would soon get in a mess. So when I got my course work I was pleasantly surprised. I thought the electrician course Learning Guide was great. I was also used to training manuals in my current job and I could see immediately that the electrician course guide was well put together. It made me keen to get stuck in immediately'.

At the electrician training Centre he said he felt like a new boy to start with but quickly got into the swing of things. ‘I thought the electrician course tutors were superb said Matthew, ‘and it was obvious that they had real life experience which gave whatever they had to say a lot more credibility. It was also good to know that I could still contact them for advice even when I had finished the electrician course. Even though in all probability I may never have need of it, it just gave me a good feeling of confidence and I just knew that I had made the right choice with Trade Qualified.'

Matthew is looking forward to his new life as an electrician and said, ‘My advice to anyone who is thinking about becoming an electrician is to stop thinking about it and just do it. You must make sure you get something that suits you. There's no point looking at full time intensive 14 week electrician training courses if you need an income while you're training and there's no point in doing an electrician course that gives you a couple of ‘fast-track' qualifications - that's just a waste of time and money. If you're reading my story then obviously you're seriously looking. Look no further - you've found what you're looking for!'
